Botox is a cosmetic injectable made from a purified form of botulinum toxin.
When injected into specific facial muscles, it blocks the nerve signals that cause those muscles to contract, thereby reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The results typically last for several months.
Juvederm is a dermal filler made from a smooth gel that contains hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body.
When injected under the skin, Juvederm adds volume and hydration to areas that have lost elasticity and smoothness due to age or other factors. The results can last for up to a year.
Most patients report only minor discomfort during the injection process. We can apply a topical numbing cream or use a very fine needle to minimize any discomfort. The entire process is quick and should only take a few minutes.
As with any medical treatment, there may be some side effects associated with Botox or Juvederm injections. These can include temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. These side effects are typically mild and resolve on their own within a few days.
You may begin to see results within a few days after your treatment, with full results typically appearing within two weeks. Results vary from person to person, and may depend on factors such as age, skin condition, and the area being treated.
The frequency of your treatments will depend on the specific product used and the area being treated. Generally, Botox injections are recommended every 3-4 months, while Juvederm treatments can last up to a year. Your provider can give you a more personalized recommendation during your consultation.
